Soya isoflavones and red clover

Isoflavones are oestrogen-like compounds that can help to modulate the effects of stronger oestrogen and testosterone produced by the body. Some studies suggest that there is a strong link between the consumption of the soy isoflavones and the prevention of the hot flushes symptoms1. They are also found to halve the incidence and severity of hot flushes, as well as help to relieve the other symptoms such as irritability and vaginal dryness.

Wild yam

Diosgenin is the chemical contained in the root and bulb of the wild yam, which can be made into various steroids (such as oestrogen and dehydroepiandrosterone (DHEA)). Often used as and alternative therapy to oestrogen therapy for vaginal dryness, Post-Menstrual Syndrome, menstrual cramps, weak bones (osteoporosis), low energy levels and sex drive.

Sage leaf

The leaf of sage contains diterpene bitters, volatile oils, flavonoids and rosmaric acid. It has a tonic effect on the female reproductive organs. It is used for irregular menstruation cycle, menstrual cramps. It also might provide relief in symptoms of menopause, anxiety, fatigue, night sweats due to its oestrogenic effect.

Pffafia

Known also as the Brazilian ginseng, suma, paratudo, it has been known to the Indian women from Amazon long time ago and used specifically to relieve the symptoms of hormonal imbalance. Being studied extensively for its properties, it was revealed that it offers support for women experiencing hormonal disturbances, containing a significant amount of plant sterols (stigmasterol) with properties similar to the oestrogen hormones2.

Schizandra chinensis

The plant is also known in the Eastern cultures as Wu-Wei-Tzu, and is considered to be a strong adaptogen. It stimulates the body strength, fortifying and enhancing resistance against stress and disease.

Hops

Hops contained volatile oils an resin but also natural oestrogens. It was established that the female hops flowers are not good only at producing beer, but also they have a powerful oestrogenic activity3. The affirmation went even to some extent that even the hops might be oestrogenic as well, although the levels are insignificantly low.

Alfalfa

Being richness in chlorophyll, vitamins (vitamin Alfalfa, B6, B12, C, D, E, K, and P), minerals (magnesium, calcium, phosphorus, potassium). It is dense in nutrients, provides sources of alkaloids, isoflavones, coumarins, sterols and essential enzymes. It is used in relieving the menopause symptoms for its cooling effect which is beneficial especially in hot flashes and sweats.

Siberian ginseng

A natural tonifier, supporting well-being, a recognized adaptogen, helps the body to perform better and prevents the effects of illness and stress. Ginseng is also a great source of phyto-nutrients, eleutherosides. In herbalistic medicine it is successfully used to prevent and alleviate the symptoms of menopause.

Atriplex halimus

Known also as the Mediterranean saltbush, a plant rich in nutrients, proteins and vitamin A, C, D and also minerals such as chromium.

Kelp

Recognized as a important source of vitamins A, B1, B2, C, D, E, also minerals (zinc, iodine, magnesium, iron, potassium, copper, calcium). Speaking of calcium — it was established that kelp contains 10 times more calcium than milk, which makes it be the product with the highest natural source of this mineral. Being rich in iodine, it supports the thyroid gland which has an important role in hormonal modulation and preventing symptoms as hot flashes, weight gain, moodiness and menopausal tension.
