Backed up by research

Below are EFSA health claims on the ingredients that we offer with Fibre and Full:

  • "Sugar beet fibre contributes to an increase in faecal bulk in two ways: the insoluble components of the fibre increase faecal bulk by absorbing water in the large intestine, while the soluble components are fermented by bacteria in the large intestine leading to an increase in bacterial mass. As such, this source of fibre may have a beneficial physiological effect for people who want to improve or maintain a normal bowel function."
EFSA Scientific Opinion on sugar beet fibre
  • "Fibre is a key ingredient to a healthy, varied and balanced diet."
  • "Glucomannan contributes to weight loss in the context of an energy-restricted diet. This beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 3g of glucomannan in three doses of 1g each, together with 1-2 glasses of water, before meals."
  • "Glucomannan contributes to the maintenance of normal blood cholesterol levels. This beneficial effect is obtained with a daily intake of 4g of glucomannan per day."

The ingredients of Fibre and Full explained

Glucomannan (Konjac Mannan)

Glucomannan (Konjac Mannan) Glucomannan is a water-soluble polysacharride considered to be a dietary fibre. It is obtained from various sources, but most common from the roots of Konjac Mannan, a perenial plant growing in the warm parts of the world.
A recent study carried by the European Food Safety Authority (EFSA) states that "Glucomannan contributes to the reduction of body weight in the context of an energy-restricted diet" [1].
However, the beneficial effect of administering glucomannan occurs only if the intake portion is of more than 1g per serving 3 times a day, together with 1-2 glasses of water, before meals and in the context of an energy-restricted diet.
The Fibre and Full formula has been modified specifically for this reason so that 1 serving (5 grams) of powder now contains 1 gram of glucomannan and it provides all the benefits of this dietary supplement.

Psyllium husk

This is the main ingredient of this dietary supplement and it was added because this extract represents an important source of natural fibre. It is an exceptional water absorber and retention fibre - it can retain up to 20 times more water than its own weight. This property makes it transform the stools in the intestines into a more plastic mass, retaining more water and preventing this way the constipation and painful bowel movements. Because Psyllium fibre retain an increased volume of water, the stool become also more bulky, a bigger quantity of faecal mass forms and this triggers the need of emptying the bowel more often, this way inducing a natural detoxification of the body.

On the other hand, Psyllium fibre is a great medium for bifidobacterium - the benign bacteria in our intestines, which work together with our bowel on food decomposition and absorption. Fibre and Full contains also its own source of "good bacteria", known also as probiotics.

Fructooligosaccharides (FOS)

These are non-digestible sugars (carbohydrates) which can be found in such vegetables like artichokes, asparagus, chicory, garlic, leeks or onions and they travel through the bowel unchanged. But passing unchanged doesn't mean they are useless - the bacteria inside our bowel use these sugars as an environment for growth and multiplication. They are known also as "prebiotics", as they represent the future environment for bacterial growth (and benign bacteria in our bowel are called "probiotics"). The Fructooligosaccharides (FOS) are crucial for a proper intestinal function and recent studies have shown that they are helping preventing the putrefaction in the intestine and have a beneficial effect on cholesterol levels.

L-Glutamine

Our organism need the L-Glutamine amino acid for some very important regenerative processes and maintenance of a proper functioning of all systems which require energy and restoration. Our body is made up mostly of proteins and L-Glutamine is the amino acid which has an important role in protein synthesis. Also, it is a source of energy for our body, next to glucose, helping to fuel the nervous system and especially the brain with the necessary amount of energy.

But the most eager consumer of Glutamine in our body is the intestine - it uses this amino-acid for recovery processes as the intestinal cells are easily damageable and need constant replacement. L-Glutamine is also beneficial in any other conditions where the body needs to restore proteins, this is why body-builders and weightlifters find L-Glutamine extremely valuable for muscle growth, too.

Probiotics - "good" intestinal bacteria

Inside the small intestine and colon there's a constant fluctuation between different bacterial strains which tend to dominate these environments. The balance between this constant battle results in a proper bowel function. When some bacterial strains take over and start dominating in the intestines, the results may be poor digestion, diarrhea, constipation, Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS) or any other intestinal condition. Antibiotics, stress, poor dietary habits, yeast infections can lead to this condition or can worsen it if it is already installed. This is why it is recommended from time to time to boost the internal balance of good bacteria with such products known as probiotics and which contained in this supplement (Fibre and Full). It will populate your gut with good bacteria and will reset the intestinal balance of good over bad bacteria.
